The Department of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” promotes and coordinates research and teaching in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, and Statistics. Its basic and applied research activities give the Department of Mathematics and Physics a strong scientific identity, enriched by productive interactions with many research organizations and institutions, both nationally and internationally.

The Department maintains close ties with INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics), INRIM (National Institute of Metrological Research), INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology), INDAM (National Institute for Advanced Mathematics), CNR (National Research Council), INAF (National Institute of Astrophysics), CMCC (Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change), ISTAT (National Institute of Statistics), and CIRA (Italian Aerospace Research Center). Furthermore, the Department has established solid collaborations with several university departments in Italy and abroad.

The Department offers bachelor's degree programs in Mathematics, Physics, and Data Analytics, the latter taught in English in collaboration with Sorbonne Paris Nord University. The undergraduate programs naturally lead to master's degree programs in Mathematics, Physics (taught in English), and Data Science (taught in English). The PhD program in Mathematics, Physics, and Applications for Engineering completes the Department's rich educational offerings.

The Department operates across two locations: one at the Science Campus on Viale Lincoln 5, Caserta, and the other at the CIRCE complex (Center for Isotopic Research for Cultural and Environmental Heritage) on Viale Carlo III 153, S. Nicola La Strada (Ce).
